Can a child be forced to study during the holidays: this is what parents should know

It is a common practice for parents to give their children assignments from the school curriculum during the holidays.

Supposedly, solving one problem or a couple of examples and reading something has never hurt anyone.

But experts at Lady Mail.ru disagree with this popular point of view. There are four reasons to give a child a chance to rest and only one to make him sit down to do his homework.

Reason one

The child looks forward to the holidays as a legitimate time of rest, but instead he gets the same school, only at home.

Therefore, the parents' decision will not lead to anything other than quarrels and conflicts.

Reason two

By forcing a child to do school assignments, parents deprive him of the opportunity to go for walks, communicate with friends, and have time for creativity and personal interests.

Reason three

There are much more fun ways to practice your literacy and numeracy skills during the holidays.

Simply ask your child to write a shopping list before going to the store, and after he returns, ask him to check whether he was given the correct change.

Reason four

If you load your child with studying all the holidays, then instead of being cheerful and rested, he will sit at the desk without much interest, and this is a loss of motivation. Therefore, you need to motivate your child to study during the main time, and not during the holidays.

When to exercise

And only if the child is not keeping up, is not mastering the school curriculum or has missed a lot, will he still have to study during the holidays.
