The correct way to grip a pen is to grasp it with your thumb, index and middle fingers, and press your ring and little fingers against your palm.
How to find a comfortable position
Place the pen vertically on the table, with the shaft down. Let the child grab it from the top with three fingers and "slide" it down with them.
The position in which your fingers have slipped is the position in which you should hold the writing instrument.
How to teach to hold a pen
To help a child hold a pen correctly, some parents use a hair tie (this can be replaced with a money tie).
It is placed on the child's wrist, twisted at the free end and the loop is placed on the handle.
Important: you should only resort to this “life hack” when the child has mastered the skill of holding a pen correctly with three fingers.
Only in this case will the exercise help to keep it at an angle of 30 degrees.
If you use an eraser before this point, it will only get in the way of the little “writer”.
