“You’re lazy!” - many boys and girls have heard this phrase addressed to them.
And there is nothing good about it. Parents who often use such a remark in relation to their own children make a very grave mistake.
Contrary to popular belief, hearing the word “lazy” from a mother or father does not make a child correct the situation.
Rather, the opposite is true: the baby becomes even lazier.
Why the word "lazy" is dangerous for a child
If you name your baby this, you are simply putting a label on him.
Most likely, the child will decide that the situation is irreparable: "This is a feature of my character and my behavior. Trying to change myself is pointless."
The situation will be even worse if Mom and Dad add: “You will never change!”
In this case, the child will come to the following conclusion: "Why change anything if I will always remain like this? All that remains is to accept it."
Remember: the word “lazy” said to a child will not motivate him to develop a love of hard work.
Most likely, the opposite effect will be achieved: the child will become convinced of the futility of attempts to correct his behavior.
How to make a child hardworking
Do you want your child to stop being lazy?
Then don’t use labels (“lazy”) and categorical formulations (“always”, “never”) when communicating with him.
Try to direct criticism not at the child himself, but at his behavior in a given situation: "Today we saw laziness on your part. But we are sure that tomorrow this will not happen."
