Adolescence is one continuous headache for parents. But foreign scientists have identified a special age when the headaches of parents of teenagers start to hurt even more.
During the survey, it was possible to determine that the most difficult age for a teenager is 15 years.
The results of the work were published by The Mirror .
Research by scientists
The researchers recruited 1,000 parents as volunteers for their work.
Then a survey was conducted, during which parents told which years from 13 to 19 years of age were the most difficult for them.
What was found out?
75% of respondents named the age of their children from 13 to 19 years as the most difficult period in their lives.
32% of parents even admitted that they were not prepared for such a turn of events.
Approximately two-thirds of respondents said that, in their opinion, teenagers cannot cope with stress (study, personal life, etc.).
Almost half stated that pressure on a teenager has a negative impact on his psyche and self-esteem.
37% named nervous tension as the cause of the teenager’s conflict with the outside world, and 32% blamed poor sleep.
45% linked all negativity to problems at school.
On average, every fifth parent surveyed admitted that they were unable to cope with their child’s stress caused by studying and exams.
Difficult age
The researchers agreed that the most difficult time for parents was when their teenagers turned 15.
In this case, the relationship was complicated by the influence of academic workload, exams, stress and hormones.
