Before you begin to deal with the problem of childhood bites, you should first find out the reason why it appeared.
There are three main factors that push a child to such behavior.
This may be due to age-related factors, teething, or a desire to attract your attention.
1. If the reason is age-related, then this is a normal phenomenon, since children express anger and aggression through biting.
From infancy to age two, almost all children bite their parents, doctors, and other children. Over time, self-control skills improve and the child outgrows the problem.
2. If the cause is teething, offer your baby teething toys and be patient. This will pass when the teeth grow in.
3. If the reason is to get your attention, then give your child more positive attention so that he does not look for ways to get negative attention through biting.
What to do if a child bites
You shouldn't bite your baby back or put mustard on the area that is most often bitten.
Instead, make sure your child gets enough of your attention. Spend more time with him, play together, read aloud. If the problem is related to lack of attention, it will be solved quickly, in just a few days.
Regardless of the reason, explain to your little one every time that biting is not allowed. Speak firmly, without aggression: “You can’t do that, it hurts!”
If this doesn't help, move the baby away or, on the contrary, pick him up. And, as always, be ready to listen to everything he thinks about the injustice of this world.
If you have enough strength, do not only forbid, but also support the child, feel sorry for him. For adults, this may seem strange, but for a baby, it is quite logical: "I bit someone, it hurts, and I am very sad about it, I want to be in my mother's arms." Even if it was the mother who was just bitten.
