If you find it difficult to trim your child's nails, check out our checklist: you might find a reason there that will make the process easier and faster.
First, it is worth using scissors with medium-thick blades.
Blades that are too thick will be difficult to insert under the nail and may cause pain, while blades that are too thin will not cut but will only break or bend the nails.
Secondly, you should trim your fingernails into a semicircle shape.
A straight cut is not suitable here, as the sharp edges of the nails will interfere, scratch and sometimes break.
Thirdly, on the legs, on the contrary, you should make a straight cut, not a semicircle.
Otherwise, there is a risk that the edges of the nail plate will begin to grow in.
Fourthly, do not cut your nails to the root - it is painful. Leave a free edge of 0.5-1 mm.
And fifth, trim the nails when the baby is calm and in a good mood. If the baby is fast asleep, you can try doing it in his sleep. If it works, both you and he will be happy. If nothing else helps, trim one or two nails at a time.
