Why Children Stop Reading Books: Is School the Only One to Blame?

All parents feel that their childhood was more purposeful, interesting and developmental.

Modern children are supposedly spoiled by gadgets, the Internet and an abundance of TV shows at any time of the day or night. And they also get a lot of homework at school.

But is this the only reason that discourages modern children from reading? Experts have explained how things really are.

First of all, the school curriculum

Modern children are bombarded with a huge flow of information. But it is also wrong to say that they are losing their love for reading because of the school curriculum.

In fact, school is the only authority that, one way or another, forces children and teenagers to pick up books and read, rather than consume content.

Secondly, social networks and gadgets

Modern children spend less time in front of TV screens and more time on social networks.

On the one hand, the child is reading something, but on the other hand, the question arises about the quality of this information.

And there is another detail besides censorship that is often overlooked – it is about the culture of communication, which is moving into the format of short videos.

To put it simply, it becomes difficult for a child to absorb text information if it does not contain videos, pictures, and primitive comments.

Thirdly, personal example

If a parent is familiar with the rule “the best gift is a book” and tries to instill this rule in his children, then it would be good if he himself picked up a book from time to time.

After all, most modern moms and dads don’t let go of their gadgets even at the dinner table or while watching a movie with their family.

Earlier we talked about why children shouldn’t sleep with their parents .
