One of the responsibilities of parents, in addition to raising and educating, is to help the child choose a specialty.

The main thing here is to be on the crest of the wave yourself, so as not to do a disservice in the heat of the moment.

Experts told how to make the right choice and not ruin your child’s life.

Answer the questions

To begin with, discuss your child’s interests with him, outline his goals, and determine what he is striving for.

Talk to your child about how he sees himself and how he wants to earn a living – through physical or mental labor, or perhaps through creativity.

How not to make a mistake with your choice

In the USSR, having received the profession of engineer, a person remained one until retirement, not counting the opportunities for career growth.

Modern people are not shy about improving their qualifications or radically changing their occupation.

Therefore, we need to proceed from the child’s capabilities, aspirations, and talents.

Passive children who are not yet old enough to make a choice should not be advised the specialties that you like yourself. This is a different task.

How to stir up a child

Even if the child says something in response, do not rush to rejoice. A teenager can say anything, just to be left alone.

Ask him why he made this choice, what he plans to do, where he plans to go, what his ideas are about finding a job, etc.

Don't impose your opinion, let the child take a special test or attend courses, communicate with representatives of a particular professional field.

The main thing in this matter is not to interfere, but also not to stand aside, but to accept the child’s conscious choice courageously and steadfastly.
