When parents explain to a child what is good and what is bad, this is not yet criticism.

However, not all parents know that criticism can be useful, as it will contribute to the development of children and help them achieve their goals.

But the child must understand that he is being criticized, but he is not being stopped from loving – experts have explained how to achieve this.

When to criticize

When there is no other way to convey to the child that the result could have been better.

It is important that in the end the child thinks about whether he can do better and what is needed for this.

It is necessary to direct the child’s interests in the right direction.

Consider age

Firstly, it is completely useless to influence children under 3 in this way. They reject criticism and become offended.

Secondly, children under 5 need to be gently pointed out their mistakes. If a child is drawing, you can say that he forgot to draw a tail or whiskers on a cat or dog, then add a bowl of food, and so on. The result will be a complete drawing.

Thirdly, a 6-year-old child can already be told that he can achieve more significant results. The main thing is to add something like: "Try - and everything will work out."

Fourthly, schoolchildren may have enough criticism at school, so it is necessary to proceed from their abilities and interests.

Before criticizing, parents should understand what the problem is and how to solve it.

With teenagers, you need to be even more careful, since any criticism can be perceived as a reproach.
