Any parent is pleased when their child is an excellent student.
But we must not forget that the main goal of a schoolchild is to gain knowledge, not good grades. And this, oddly enough, is not the same thing.
A top score does not always indicate a well-understood topic and acquired skills.
Conversely, a random two does not at all indicate a lack of ability in a student.
What should a mother and father do if their son or daughter gets a bad grade in their diary?
It is necessary to find out the reason for receiving a bad grade, provide moral support to the child and help him master the difficult topic.
But you shouldn't blame the child or scold him. Otherwise, the student will lose motivation or start to perceive good grades as the main goal.
In addition, you should avoid saying the following phrases:
"It's a simple topic!"
There is no need to blame the child for not being able to grasp “simple material.”
If parents do say this phrase, the student will lose the desire to study. In addition, complexes may appear.
"You're just lazy!"
Imagine this situation: a child tried hard, but still failed to get a good grade. And he is accused of being "lazier".
Such injustice will be remembered by the schoolchild. He will probably lose motivation to study and will also harbor a grudge against his mom and dad.
"But Vasya got an A!"
Comparing yourself to other children is a very dangerous thing to do.
If parents pay attention only to the advantages of other children and the disadvantages of their own child, this will end with the appearance of low self-esteem in the child.
