Luxury perfumes containing phthalates may trigger the development of cancer.
Fashion historian and perfume expert Tala Baeva warned about this.
Her statement is quoted by NEWS.ru.
What perfume causes cancer
According to Baeva, phthalates contained in perfumes of at least 13 well-known brands, in particular, in products by Bulgari and Zielinski & Rozen, interfere with the endocrine system and cause hormonal imbalance.
These substances are also suspected of being able to provoke mutations in DNA.
Which can lead to various serious diseases, including cancer, the expert explained.
According to her, phthalates can negatively affect reproductive health: change hormone levels, cause fertility problems, and disrupt the development of the genitals.
In men, Baeva clarified, phthalates suppress testosterone production, while in women they can cause ovarian disease and breast cancer.
And since phthalates easily pass through the placenta, the expert continued, they can lead to disturbances during pregnancy and problems with the reproductive system of the fetus.
In addition, such perfumes can cause allergies and asthma, Baeva concluded.
