Fatigue and weakness can occur not only due to stress and lack of sleep.

The reason may be dietary habits, said therapist and gastroenterologist Sergei Lopatin.

The doctor listed energy-depleting foods in a conversation with the publication Lenta.ru .

What foods cause fatigue

First, you need to minimize your consumption of fatty foods. Digesting them takes a lot of energy.

This is especially true for sausages, semi-finished products, and fast food.

Such foods contain trans fats, preservatives and other additives that increase the load on the gastrointestinal tract.

Secondly, constant fatigue can be a consequence of coffee abuse.

Caffeine itself, Lopatin explained, does not give the body energy, but only masks fatigue by blocking adenosine receptors.

The fatigue does not go away, and as soon as the caffeine stops working, a sharp decline in strength sets in.

With regular excess caffeine, you will need more and more, the doctor warned.

Thirdly, foods high in fast carbohydrates and sugar can be the cause of constant fatigue.

Sweets cause a sharp increase in blood sugar levels. A person feels a short-term surge of energy, but after half an hour the sugar drops sharply, and vigor is replaced by fatigue.
