Belarusian podiatrist Olga Akulik recommended buying socks two sizes larger.

The expert voiced this recommendation in an interview with 24health.by .

Why You Should Buy Socks Two Sizes Bigger

As the specialist explained, after washing, socks usually shrink, so it is better to buy two sizes larger.

It is better to choose regular socks rather than slippers, as they squeeze the foot and create compression.

The specialist also recommended buying looser shoes.

When walking, the foot increases in size by about one and a half centimeters, so the toes need to have room to move.

Without a reserve of one to one and a half centimeters, your legs will experience discomfort.

The wrong choice of footwear, Akulik warned, is fraught not only with swelling of the foot and the formation of corns and calluses, but also with more serious problems: circulatory problems, deformation and ingrown nails, their separation from the nail bed, curvature of the toes and feet, flat feet.
