Certain drinks that we think are healthy (or at least harmless) actually contain ingredients that we should be wary of.
These include sweeteners, preservatives and other additives.
Such components can lead to excess weight and are also fraught with serious health problems.
Flavored water
Water that claims to have lemon, raspberry, aloe or mint added to it may seem harmless. However, some experts believe that such a product contains too much sugar and flavorings, making it almost as caloric as the well-known Coca-Cola.
Diet soda
This drink does indeed contain far fewer calories than classic soda, but this fact does not make it safe.
According to nutritionist Trista Best, diet soda's high sugar content can cause gastrointestinal irritation and bloating.
In addition, sugar substitutes reduce the amount of beneficial gut bacteria.
Bubble tea
Bubble tea usually contains sugar, milk or juice, and tapioca starch balls. According to nutritionists, a standard glass of this tea "weighs" at least 400 calories.
This fact led Dr. Megan Bird, MD, to name bubble tea one of the worst drinks for health.
