Dry skin leads to irritation, flaking, wrinkles and other problems.
To avoid them, you need to keep your skin moisturized. You can't do this until you know why water can dry out your skin.
Chemical components of water
Tap water is known to contain minerals and chlorine, which can irritate the skin by stripping away natural oils, and its increased hardness only makes the situation worse.
Water temperature
Hot water strips the skin of its natural oils and barriers that retain moisture, while cold water constricts capillaries and reduces the flow of blood to the skin, along with nutrients. The bottom line is: use water at a comfortable, warm temperature for washing.
Contact time
During prolonged contact with water, the skin's natural barrier is damaged, which leads to moisture loss. If you don't want to "get" dry skin, reduce the time you take a bath or shower to 20 minutes.
Lack of care
After showering, do not rub your body with a towel, but use blotting movements. If necessary, use a moisturizer or lotion.
