Are small pimples appearing on your arms or legs, very noticeable on light skin and spoiling its entire appearance? This is not an allergy or a manifestation of cellulite, but the so-called "goose bumps", which in medicine is called follicular keratosis.
These types of lumps most often occur around the follicles from which body hair grows.
Goose bumps look unsightly, and there are several reasons for their occurrence. These include a lack of vitamin E, a tendency to dermatitis, and a lack of proper exfoliation of the skin in specific areas.
Follicular keratosis will also be a problem if you use shower gel with aggressive detergents too often.
If goose bumps have appeared on the body, something needs to be done about them. What exactly? Follicular keratosis will need to be treated with both external and internal methods. Here are these methods.
First, cleanse your skin properly. Forget about too-hard washcloths and scrubs based on sugar, coffee or salt: they act too strongly, damaging the skin, and cell division can only increase, causing deterioration. But more delicate peelings-rolls with acids will gently remove dead epidermis, freeing the follicles, and even out the skin relief in problem areas. Use such peelings every time before taking a shower to see the result soon.
Second, try exfoliating your body with the softest dry massage brush possible. To combat goose bumps, a horsehair brush will come in handy. It will gently remove dead skin cells without scratching your skin. It should also be used before your evening shower or bath.
Method number three - switch to softer daily hygiene products. Instead of shower gel, wash your body with a cream-gel with moisturizing components, replace regular toilet soap with something that has a glycerin base. Such products will not provoke dry skin, and small pimples will become less over time.
The fourth method is to smooth out the skin relief and tighten it a little with a procedure such as a honey massage. When you go to the shower, take a jar of fresh or dried honey with you.
After the skin has steamed a little under the influence of warm water, take a portion of honey in your palm, spread it over the area covered with goose bumps, and begin to lightly pat it, and after a few minutes, wrap the problem areas in thin cling film and leave it like that for a quarter of an hour.
Method number five - if goose bumps have appeared on those parts of your legs or arms where you shave the hairs or use special creams to remove them, try another method of depilation. Sugar paste removes both excess hair and dead epidermis from the surface of the body well. Do depilation with it for some time and then evaluate how much the appearance of the skin has improved.
The sixth method - after depilation, a regular shower or bath, be sure to moisturize the skin, especially where follicular keratosis appears. But do not do this with fatty oils and thick cream-butters.
The texture of the moisturizer should be light, reminiscent of a fluid or cream-gel. It is good if the lotion or fluid contains urea: it is an effective and skin-related moisturizing component.
And method number seven - consult a doctor and take the necessary tests to find out whether keratosis pilaris is a symptom of vitamin A deficiency.
It is not recommended to take medications containing it on your own, because too much vitamin A is also bad, as it tends to accumulate in the body, and the consequences do not appear immediately.
But to replenish the deficiency of this vitamin, it is permissible to adjust your diet by adding more carrots, chicken eggs, fatty fish and animal liver to your diet.
