Experts from France have established in the course of a study that if a chronic alcoholic decides to abruptly give up alcohol, his memory is restored, and he begins to think more clearly.
As doctors noted, addiction leads to a disruption of cognitive abilities.
As a result, not only memory suffers, but also attention, and the risk of breakdowns after giving up a bad habit increases.
A scientific study was conducted.
Scientists invited volunteers.
In the end, 64 people took part. Half of them suffered from severe alcoholism, and the rest of the people were indifferent to alcoholic drinks.
According to the conditions, the addicts had to completely overcome their bad habit, and the psychologists had to find out how this affected the state of the brain.
As scientists noted, during the work, after 8 days, 60 percent of the volunteers still had problems with brain function, but after 18 days the indicators improved by 63 percent.
The findings were published in Alcohol and Alcoholism.
