To choose truly delicious strawberries at the market or in the store, you should not rush.
There are many tips on this matter. For example, evaluate the appearance, smell, condition of the stem, etc. Here are some tips on what strawberries you should not buy.
Culinary expert Evgeniy Klopotenko shared his advice.
In addition to appearance and smell, the culinary product reminds us of the time of day.
The earlier you go to the market, the greater the chances of buying fresh berries.
If the berries have released juice in the trays, then most likely they have already lain in the sun for one day. In addition, the leaves may look wilted. Such strawberries do not store.
The berries should be even in color, from red to dark burgundy. There should be no dents, scratches, and especially no signs of rot or mold.
It is also worth knowing that red berries with green tips are unripe and often sour.
If the berries smell pleasant and have a distinct aroma, then most likely they grew in natural conditions and ripened in the sun.
But you shouldn't buy overripe and soft strawberries. They are not even suitable for jam, and all because their aroma is not as pronounced, and the taste is not so good.
