Hand-knitted scarves, socks, sweaters and other items have special value and seem warmer than similar ones from the store.

But there is one circumstance that should not be forgotten. It is believed that after knitting, the finished product must be washed. Is this true?

We'll tell you why this is so important.

Firstly, before the yarn ends up on the store shelf, it passes through more than one pair of hands. Then another pair of hands, not counting the time the threads gather dust on the shelves waiting to be sold.

Secondly, you can often hear that knitted items stretch after washing, but if you wash them by hand and at the right temperature, nothing bad will happen. The item will return to its original shape after it dries.

Thirdly, after washing, all possible unevenness is smoothed out, and loops are put in place. In other words, a washed knitted item looks neater.

Fourthly, if it is cashmere, then the item will acquire its airy appearance and softness only after it has been washed.

And the last thing. Bobbin yarn must be washed. If you start wearing an unwashed item, you will not be able to avoid allergies and other problems, and all because this thread is covered with a special composition for better sliding.
