American Charles Osborne set an unusual record.
He hiccupped for almost 70 years.
The man's hiccups began in 1922 and ended in 1990.
Thanks to this “achievement,” the US citizen got into the Guinness Book of Records.
The American was born in late 1894 in the town of Anton in the state of Iowa.
The man began hiccupping in 1922. The attack lasted for 68 years.
At first, Osborne hiccupped 40 times a minute. Later, the frequency of hiccups decreased by half.
It is estimated that the man hiccupped approximately 430 million times in his lifetime.
This problem did not prevent Osborne from improving his personal life: he got married and had children.
The compilers of the Guinness Book of Records have recognized an American as the person with the longest bout of hiccups.
The last one, by the way, ended unexpectedly in 1990. At that time, the man was 96 years old.
And in 1991, Charles Osborne passed away. The cause of death of the record holder was a stomach ulcer.
