In the south of India there is a city called Thiruvananthapuram (also known as Trivandrum).
The settlement is famous not only for its long and difficult to pronounce name, but also for its landmarks.
One of them is the Padmanabhaswamy Hindu Temple.
Thirteen years ago, this object was included in the Guinness Book of Records.
And not just like that. It turned out that the temple is the richest in the world.
The exact date of the temple's foundation is unknown. According to popular belief, the object appeared in the 6th century AD.
But there is also a version according to which the temple has existed for five thousand years.
At one time, a treasury was discovered under the building. Over time, a huge number of gifts appeared in it.
We are talking about precious stones (diamonds, rubies, emeralds), as well as gold and silver jewelry.
The total value of the treasure is estimated at $22 billion.
It is therefore not surprising that the Guinness Book of Records has included the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in its guide.
