Cats are real sleepyheads. They love to sleep.

Usually, purrs spend 12 to 16 hours a day on such rest. Kittens and older fluffies can sleep longer.

Why does a cat sleep so long? There is an explanation!

Why do cats sleep so much?

Don't think of your meowing four-legged friend as a "couch potato"!

The desire to sleep a lot is genetically determined in your pet.

It is important to remember that cats are natural born hunters.

Yes, domestic fluffy creatures do not need to hunt anyone: they are already fed. However, the instinct remains.

In order to fully prepare for the “hunt” (and in reality, for active games and for fast movement around the apartment), the animal needs to restore its strength and accumulate energy.

However, it is possible that the cat will actually have to hunt at home. For example, rodents.

It is also important to remember that when hunting in the wild, a cat can be either an attacking animal or a victim of some large predator. And the fluffy one sets itself up for the need to escape, therefore it strives for a full restoration of energy and strength.

Also, keep in mind that cats do not always sleep deeply. Quite often, a cat's sleep is superficial: being in a "partially asleep" state, the pet remains ready to attack the "enemy".

Such periods of superficial sleep are short-lived but frequent.
