There are many common cat poses: "ball", "position on the back", "position on the side", etc.

But there is one very rare pose - the "column".

As the name suggests, the cat takes a vertical position, standing on its hind legs and dangling its front legs.

The phenomenon is so rare that a person who sees it is very surprised and begins to laugh.

And indeed, a cat that has chosen the “column” pose looks very funny.

What makes the cat stand like that? There are several possible explanations.

Something interested the cat

It is possible that something caught the cat's attention.

The wide open eyes and pricked ears only confirm this hypothesis.

Something surprised the cat

The furry pet can stand in a "column" position if it is extremely surprised.

The cat wants to look at something

A cat may choose an unusual pose in order to see something better.

A cat standing on all fours may not be tall enough to see an object clearly behind an obstacle.

And the "column" pose allows the animal to "stand taller." For the same reason, people sometimes stand on tiptoe.

It is worth emphasizing that a cat can stand strangely for all of the above reasons at the same time.

Earlier we named 3 signs that a cat is trying to control its owner.
