In winter, roads and sidewalks on city streets are sprinkled not only with salt, but also with various reagents. This ruins shoes, and dogs' paws suffer.
Therefore, even in dry frosty weather, you need to thoroughly wash your pets' paws after a walk, but it is better to take measures to protect them.
If you have small and medium-sized dogs, it is best to carry them in your arms across the sidewalk. If this is not possible, there are special waxes and creams, but they may not always be effective, - Vladimir Urazhevsky, head of the Union of Cynological Organizations of Russia, told NEWS.ru.
After a walk, the dog's paws should be washed with warm water, and if there are wounds, the necessary treatment should be carried out, including with special products.
Chemical reagents on city roads and sidewalks can seriously damage animal paws.
If possible, you should use dog shoes. But if your pet is not trained or the breed is large, you should treat the paws with wax or creams.
In any case, after a walk you need to wash your paws with warm water.
In addition, you need to plan your walking route and avoid busy streets if possible. It is safer to walk dogs in the park or other quiet places.
