Vegetables for dogs: which ones can and cannot be given to your pet

Vegetables are a healthy source of vitamins, minerals and fiber for humans and dogs.
However, not all vegetables are equally good for our four-legged friends.
Some of them may be toxic, cause allergies or be poorly absorbed.
So it's helpful to know which vegetables are safe for dogs and which ones should be avoided in their diet.
Healthy Vegetables for Dogs
Dogs can be given the following vegetables:
• Pumpkin. Strengthens the immune system and vision, helps with stomach upset. Give boiled or baked, without skin and seeds.
• Carrots. Good for skin, coat and teeth, stimulates digestion. Give raw or cooked.
• Cucumber. Quenches thirst, promotes weight loss, contains potassium, magnesium and folate. Give raw or pickled. Zucchini.
• A low-fat and light vegetable, rich in vitamins C, B and K, calcium and phosphorus. Improves digestion, eliminates constipation and diarrhea. Give raw or boiled.
• Broccoli. A source of antioxidants, vitamins C, K and A, iron and folate. Protects cells from radicals, strengthens the immune system. Serve boiled or baked.
Dangerous Vegetables for Dogs
Dogs should not be given the following vegetables:
• Garlic and onions: Contain thiosulfates, which destroy blood in dogs and can lead to anemia or poisoning. Raw potatoes.
• Contains toxic solanine which may cause vomiting, diarrhea or paralysis.
• Radishes and chili peppers. They damage the mucous membranes of the dog’s stomach and intestines and can cause gastritis or ulcers.
• Mushrooms. These can be poisonous or allergenic to your dog and do not provide any nutritional benefit.
So, vegetables for dogs are not only a healthy but also a tasty component of their diet. However, it is important to know which vegetables are safe for dogs and which ones should be avoided in their diet.
You also need to consider your dog's individual tolerance and tastes. If you're unsure whether a particular vegetable is safe to feed your dog, it's best to consult a veterinarian or not feed it at all.
