Scientists have dispelled a popular myth about domestic cats: experimentally proven

British scientists have come to the conclusion that domestic cats are not at all what they claim to be.

It turns out that cats do not miss their owners at all when they go to work. Unlike dogs, they do not experience any discomfort or fear from the upcoming separation.

British scientists have come to the conclusion that cats are less dependent on their owners than dogs.

The scientists tested the pet's attachment coefficient to its owner using the Ainsworth test, which is used to assess a child's attachment to its mother.

The experiment involved 20 cat owners and their pets. Scientists observed the animals' behavior in an unfamiliar environment using a video camera.

The researchers were interested in the question of how the cats' behavior would change after their owner left.

It was thus possible to find out that at this time cats begin to meow louder than usual, but this does not prove the existence of a close connection with the owner.

There was no evidence that cats felt safer in unfamiliar surroundings when their owner was present.

At the same time, scientists note that the domestication of cats did not have any specific purpose and therefore there is not such a close connection between cats and humans as there is between humans and dogs.
