Dog owners who switch their pets to a home-cooked diet must have a clear idea of what should be included in this diet.

It's good when a vet prescribes a dog's diet. It's much worse when the dog's food is prepared as if it were for itself - seemingly high-quality, but at the same time useless.

Let's find out what proportion of a dog's diet should consist of vegetables and what kind of vegetables they should be.

It turns out that vegetables in a dog’s menu should not make up more than 5-10%.

This amount will provide your dog with the fiber it needs for normal digestion and overall well-being.

Vegetables can be given raw or cooked together with meat and porridge.

This could be pumpkin and cucumber, carrots and celery, as well as zucchini peeled and seeded.

You can also give dogs cabbage (broccoli and cauliflower - no more than 10-15 grams) and soaked beans. These vegetables must be boiled.

Do not give to dogs

These vegetables are considered toxic to animals and can cause severe poisoning. This group includes:

  • garlic and onion;
  • raw potatoes;
  • radish and chili pepper.

Other vegetables not included in the list should be given to the animal in limited quantities.
