Cats are free-roaming animals that roam and sleep wherever they want.

If your cat doesn't wander around the dining table in your presence, it doesn't mean that it doesn't do it at all. Let's figure out whether it's possible to eradicate this bad habit.

When noticing that a cat is sitting on the kitchen table or, even worse, lying down and sleeping, the first thing many people do is try to scare off or otherwise drive away the pet.

But screaming and throwing whatever you have at hand at the animal is the last thing you should do. As soon as you leave, the cat will return to where you chased it away from.

It is only possible to wean an animal from the habit of sleeping on the dining table through long training sessions.

Only one thing will help in this regard. You need to make the pet's favorite place uncomfortable for further lying down.

Cats are very sensitive to smells. In the kitchen, vinegar or another strong food smell can help scare the animal away.

You can remove the tablecloth on which your pet sleeps and put vinegar-treated towels or cotton pads in its place.

Instead of vinegar, you can use essential oils, citrus zest, and coffee aromas.

You can also put something rustling or another object on the table that might scare your pet away.
