Toxic waste, toxic people, and what toxic people say to those around them.

Obviously, society is not obliged to suffer because of someone else's bad mood. It is necessary to make this person understand that he is wrong without provoking a conflict.

Here are some examples of toxic phrases and the correct responses to such attacks.

Toxic Phrases

These are words and phrases with which the person who utters them tries to drive his opponent into a corner.

1. "Why are you reacting so emotionally?" These words may be said by a person who is trying to convince you that your reaction is inadequate.

Tell him that you understand why he does this, and call your reaction correct and genuine. If this gets to him, try to discuss the problem further.

2. "I didn't say that!" It doesn't matter the circumstances under which these words were spoken. In either case, you are forced to doubt your own memory.

Tell the offender that everyone has their own way of dealing with memories, but be sure to add that the real situation will not change because of this.

3. "You're crazy!" A harsher word may be used, but it all comes down to shifting your attention away from the real problem.

Tell the other person that using insults is unfair, inappropriate, and will not solve the problem.

4. "Because I am who I am!" This phrase can explain a lot and is used to avoid responsibility, and in the most brazen way.

Remind that people are, in principle, different by nature, but this circumstance does not give anyone the right to break agreements or cause other harm to others.

5. "Everyone says you're wrong!" This is how a person tries to attract the opinion of the majority to his side, while the majority itself does not exist, or has not expressed its opinion.

In response, suggest focusing on solving the problem and add that the majority may also disagree with you, but this does not matter if the issue can be resolved.

And the main thing to remember is that emotions are a natural reaction, but it is important to learn to hear and understand each other correctly.

For reference

Emotion (from Latin emoveo - I shake, I excite) is a mental process of medium duration, which reflects a subjective attitude to the objective world.
