It's understandable when people lie to each other, but that doesn't justify such behavior. What's not clear is why people lie to themselves?
By deceiving the interlocutor, a person increases his self-esteem or achieves other results.
Foreign scientists have conducted research on this topic as well – why people lie to themselves and consider themselves better than others.
Research has shown that in 90% of cases, university teachers and professors claimed that they did their job better than their colleagues.
The survey among high school students also showed that about a quarter of the total number of respondents called their relationships with others excellent. They even claimed that they got along with others better than their peers.
But scientists received honest answers only if the survey was conducted anonymously.
That is, the more impersonal the questions were, the more frank the answers.
According to researchers, many are simply not ready to admit their insecurity, vulnerability, and imperfection.
And self-deception allows you to avoid problems and feelings of guilt.
In addition, experts believe that a person is always inclined to believe himself, and a false idea about something is formed unconsciously.
Earlier we talked about why we dream of a dead person.
