Auto-aggression is usually understood as causing harm to oneself, and you can do harm even unconsciously.

Autoaggression can manifest itself in different forms – in the form of self-harm, when a person cuts or burns himself, pulls out his hair or scratches his skin, self-destructive behavior, which manifests itself in the form of alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, gambling addiction, etc.

The most severe form is suicidal tendencies.

The most common reasons include self-loathing and lack of acceptance of one's appearance, as well as chronic stress.

If you find yourself in a stressful situation, you can try to help yourself by using the following techniques.

1. Focus on your breathing and take a few slow, deep breaths in and out even more slowly. Feel the air slowly moving through your nose and down your airways into your lungs and then slowly back out.

2. Visualize calm. To do this, imagine yourself in a quiet, calm, and pleasant place.

3. If you experience a strong emotional reaction while communicating with someone, break direct eye contact with them. If possible, take a break, take a walk, postpone the conversation, or simply turn away.
