In the modern world, people are already familiar with mobbing, bullying and shooting, says psychologist Stanislav Sambursky .

Shooting is the breaking point when a person is fed up with bullying and resorts to physical violence to solve the problem.

Mobbing is endless criticism from colleagues and management, alienation of the victim and gossip around him.

Bullying is a pronounced aggression, cruelty, humiliation, and persecution of the victim.

In the 80s of the last century, against the backdrop of a decline in economic growth and an increase in psychosomatic disorders, American scientists conducted a study in which they found out the cause of these unfavorable factors. It was mobbing.

Types of mobbing

The victim of mobbing is most often the one who is different from the rest of the group. The phenomenon itself is divided into types:

  • horizontal – the victim falls under the aggression of the group;
  • vertical – pressure from management;
  • Sandwich mobbing is a combination of horizontal and vertical.

It is worth noting that in situations with beautiful women, sexual harassment does occur.

Causes of mobbing

Usually, mobbing is a consequence of envy and fear. For example, a boss sees a gifted and ambitious subordinate. And he begins to think that he will soon lose his job. In the case of colleagues, aggression is caused by the youth, religion, nationality and high level of competence of the new employee.

Beautiful women are more likely to face vertical and horizontal mobbing. They confront envious women, jealousy of male colleagues and sexual harassment from management.

The next reason for bullying is the personal problems of the instigator, who needs to maintain authority. In any case, the victim becomes a way of expressing the suppressed aggression of the entire team. But it is not always innocent. Bullying can be caused by arrogance, vanity and other not so positive traits of the employee.

Signs of mobbing:

  1. Intentional concealment of important information, its late delivery or distortion.
  2. Constant disappearance of things from the table, their discovery in other places.
  3. Lack of casual conversations and their termination immediately after the victim appears in the office.
  4. Rumors not supported by real facts.
  5. Special preparation of sharp phrases or jokes in order to use them at the right moment.

It is important to understand: such a situation throws the victim off balance, thoughts of revenge appear. This threatens serious consequences, up to and including criminal punishment.

What to do if mobbing is directed at you:

  1. Ignore provocations.
  2. Postpone the dismissal, because it will give pleasure to the instigators.
  3. Analyze the situation. If the reason for the bullying is your behavior, work on yourself and make peace with your colleagues.
  4. Neutralize the provocateur.
  5. In case of horizontal mobbing, tell your management about the situation.
  6. Become an observer, do not enter into confrontation.
  7. If you find pain points in your enemies, feel free to hit them, but without physical aggression.
