Office Romance: Is It Worth Building a Relationship with a Colleague?
Colleagues are those people who are close to you for at least 8 hours, 5 times a week, approximately 250 days a year.
The numbers, you must admit, are impressive – it’s not always possible to devote as much time to your family and friends.
So don't be surprised if one day you develop strong feelings for one of them.
Should you give an office romance a chance?
The spark that flared up can really develop into something more. The relationship can even end in marriage, but all this is possible only if a number of conditions are met.
Don't rush to make rosy plans if your chosen one is married - very rarely does a relationship with a married colleague end in the latter's divorce and a new union.
Moreover, it is unlikely that you will both be able to keep your jobs in this case – more often than not, one of you (usually the woman) is forced to write a letter of resignation.
There are few prospects for a relationship with a boss or, conversely, a subordinate.
In such a situation, everyone is condemned - both the managers (female managers) who took advantage of their official position, and the subordinates (regardless of gender), who are accused of using their bodies to build a successful career.
If you find yourself in this situation, the best thing you can do is to transfer to another department if possible.
Provided that you keep your mouth shut and do not indulge in carnal pleasures right in the workplace, there is still a chance for a happy relationship.
You already know a lot about your chosen one: how he copes with stress, communicates with other women, interacts with his boss, relaxes at parties.
But remember: if your potential partner is spoken of well in the team, that's a "green flag." But if his reputation is less than ideal, it's unlikely that he'll want to change for you.
