What to Add to Plant Water to Improve Its Quality: You Have 3 Options

The growth of plants in the garden and vegetable garden is impossible without a number of “procedures”, which include, among other things, watering.

Unfortunately, the quality of the liquid does not always meet our expectations. However, it can always be improved.

According to experienced gardeners and vegetable growers, tap water is not suitable for moistening the soil in the beds.

The reason is that it is alkaline, which means you will have to feed and replant crops much more frequently to ensure that they get all the nutrition they need.

Tap water can also contain much more iron than is required. The result is often phosphorus starvation.

If it is not possible to use another liquid for watering, then try to at least let such water stand for two days.

To check the quality of water, it is recommended to use special test strips to measure the pH level. They can be purchased at any flower shop.

This procedure will also help you understand what nutrients are missing in your water.

If the test shows an elevated pH level, you will have to acidify the liquid. Any of the three methods described below will help you with this.

1. You can add citric acid to water (in a ratio of 1.5-2 grams per 1 liter of water).

2. Amber acid (0.3 grams per 1 liter of water) will also be a good additive.

3. A rust converter based on orthophosphoric acid (2 milliliters per 1 liter of water) will also help.
