In the pre-holiday bustle, many gardeners forgot about their country plots.
There is nothing wrong with this: for now, you don’t have to visit the dacha.
But this will need to be done immediately after the end of the holiday.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminded gardeners about important procedures that need to be carried out on a country plot in the first days and weeks of the calendar year.
Shake the snow off the plants
If after the New Year you see snow caps on your garden crops, remove them immediately.
Otherwise, the branches of trees and bushes will simply break under the weight of these flakes.
Use a broom or a brush to remove snow. A shovel is a bad choice: there is a risk of causing serious damage to crops.
Snow preparation
Collect more snow and melt it.
As a result, you will receive a supply of melt water that can be used to water seedlings.
Throw snow into the greenhouses
In greenhouses, precipitation will melt. As a result, the soil will be saturated with useful liquid.
Checking blackcurrants
The beginning of the year is an ideal time to check this plant.
Make sure there are no kidney mites.
If there are still affected buds (they will look like “balls”), then pick them off and destroy them.
Tree pruning
If the winter is warm, then after the end of the New Year period you can prune woody plants.
The main thing is that the air temperature is at least -7 degrees. And it is important that the weather forecast does not warn of an imminent cold snap.
