Are you killing weeds or killing the future of your garden beds?
The magazine "Na Ogorod" conducted an experiment: after treatment with vinegar, the soil loses fertility for 3 years.
Agronomist Evgeniya from Antonov Garden is sounding the alarm:
"Vinegar destroys not only weeds, but also earthworms that loosen the soil. What remains is a dead desert where even nettles do not grow!"
Salt, which is often added to the solution, causes soil salinization.
Rains carry it to neighboring beds, killing cultivated plants.
Reader Alexey from Samara said:
“After fighting wheatgrass with salt, my carrots grew crooked and bitter - I had to throw out the entire crop.”
1. Boiling water - water the weeds in the morning, the sun's rays will enhance the effect by "cooking" the roots.
2. Cardboard + mulch - place boxes between the beds, sprinkle with soil. Without light, the weeds will die in 2 weeks.
3. Green manure - mustard planted between rows releases substances that suppress the growth of weeds.
Create a “living barrier” of marigolds and calendula around the perimeter of the area.
Their roots secrete alkaloids that block the germination of weed seeds, and the flowers attract ladybugs, the natural enemies of aphids.
Olga from Kazan shared her success:
“I planted phacelia in the empty areas – within a month the weeds had disappeared and the soil had become loose as fluff!”
