Spring is the hottest time for gardeners.
To get everything done, it is important not to waste time on nonsense.
We'll tell you about the most common mistakes gardeners make when preparing for the gardening season.
First, digging up the soil. This is a useful activity, but there is no point in digging up the entire area.
In high beds and in a greenhouse, instead of digging to loosen the soil, you can sow green manure crops, and after planting vegetables, cover the soil with organic matter.
Secondly, burning of leaves. It is better to put them in compost, and can also be used for mulching tree trunk circles.
Thirdly, whitewashing trees in April-May. It will not bring any benefit.
Trees should be whitewashed in the fall. If the whitewash has washed off by the end of winter, you can repeat the procedure at the beginning of March (no later), as this is the period when frost cracks appear.
Also in early spring it is necessary to treat the garden against diseases and pests.
The treatment is carried out approximately a week after the start of sap flow.
However, you should not combine pesticides and biological preparations, the latter will not be effective.
