There are no completely unpretentious cultivated plants. Each has its own requirements, which are manifested to one degree or another.
As for carrots, everything is elementary.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told us what mistakes can leave you without a carrot harvest.
1. This crop does not like cold soil, so it is sown only after the soil has completely warmed up.
If you sow seeds in soil warmed up to +5 degrees Celsius, the shoots will appear no earlier than in 20 days.
2. Carrots, like all root vegetables, do not like dense soil.
Therefore, the beds for sowing this vegetable are prepared thoroughly, and in addition to adding fertilizers, they are also loosened.
3. Also, carrots do not tolerate excess moisture. During sowing, the soil should be moderately moist, not wet.
4. The vegetable is also demanding of the place in the beds. It loves sunlight and does not grow well in the shade.
Therefore, it is a bad idea to plant a bed for root crops in the shade and in a lowland.
5. And one more important point is to maintain the interval when sowing.
The depth of seed placement in the soil should be about 1-1.5 cm, and the distance between furrows should be at least 15 cm.
In this case, you can count on friendly shoots, and the root crops will grow and develop normally.
