Prune if necessary, removing weak and damaged branches. This will help the plants focus their energy on surviving the winter.

Covering roses, grapes and clematis

Roses are frost-sensitive plants. To keep them healthy, cover them with special materials such as pine needles or dry leaves.

Create a cone-shaped structure around the bush and cover it with a shelter.

Grapes require careful covering. Clear them of foliage, leaving only the shoots.

Bend the shoots to the ground and cover them with agrofabric or special film. This will help protect the grapes from frost and snowfall.

Clematis also need protection from the cold. Cover the base of the plant with dry leaves or straw. Then cover the clematis with a special protective net or agrofabric.

Winter protection of other crops

Besides roses, grapes and clematis, many other crops need to be covered for the winter.

For perennial flowers and herbaceous plants, use a layer of mulch made from dry leaves or straw. This will help protect the plant roots from cold temperatures.

Trees and shrubs, especially young ones, will require additional protection.

Wrap the trunks with paper or special protective material.
