It is worth noting right away that summer residents do not have a unified position on the issue of pruning garlic after harvesting.
Some people carry out the procedure almost immediately after drying.
Others retain their stems and roots until spring, notes Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert at the online publication BelNovosti, a landscape designer and agronomist.
In fact, this procedure is useless at best: neither the roots nor the stems cause any harm to the garlic itself.
On the contrary, their presence helps the product remain tasty and of high quality.
It is believed that garlic that is not cut after harvesting will last until spring without any particular difficulties.
It also helps the garlic not to lose its juiciness, aroma and taste.
You can only trim the product a little. After you have dried the garlic well, you need to leave the whole part of the stem, removing only the obviously dried parts.
But there is no need to touch the roots at all.
