Currants yield some of the healthiest and most affordable berries. The plant is generally unpretentious, but it is important to feed the bushes so that they bear fruit abundantly.

Here are some fertilizing options that will increase yields.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer, told us how to feed currants during flowering and formation of ovaries.

During flowering

Much depends on the time. But when the bushes are blooming, gardeners advise using organic additives.

One of the available options is liquid manure - 2 kg of manure per 2 liters of water. The finished infusion should be diluted in a bucket of water.

The next popular ingredient is wood ash, which saturates the soil with potassium.

If we talk about folk methods, then the most commonly used ones are:

  • yeast;
  • nettle infusion;
  • potato peelings.

After flowering

When the ovaries appear and the berries begin to grow, it is important that they accumulate more sugars.

Therefore, it is recommended to use potassium fertilizers during this period.

It is better not to experiment with folk additives and use potassium sulfate.

To prepare the solution, use 2 tablespoons of fertilizer per bucket of water. It is used for watering.

You can also use a solution of wood ash.

To prepare it, 1 glass of ash is poured with 10 liters of hot water.

Use after the fertilizer has cooled. Consumption: 3 liters of solution per young bush and 5 liters per adult.

Earlier we talked about when it is better to add ash to the soil – in spring or autumn .
