Wood ash is an excellent gardening product.

Unburned wood residues can be used both as fertilizer and as a soil deoxidizer.

Ash can also act as a pest control agent.

However, sometimes gardeners turn an effective and useful powder into a real poison for plants with their own hands.

Mixing ash with fertilizers that are not compatible with the product

Wanting to enhance the properties of unburned wood residues, some gardeners mix this product with other fertilizers.

In many cases, this approach pays off.

But sometimes ash turns into poison for garden crops. This happens when they try to combine the product with fertilizers that wood residues do not get along with.

First of all, we are talking about ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, ammophos. Ash is also incompatible with phosphorus sources.

Caution should also be exercised when mixing wood waste with organic fertilizers, such as mullein and chicken manure.

Fertilizing plants for which ash is not suitable

Ash, despite all its benefits, is not suitable for all crops.

This powder can be a real poison for carrots, radishes, sorrel and spinach.
