What Carrots Don't Like: 5 Mistakes That Can Cause You to Lose Your Harvest

At the end of April, many gardeners began planting carrots.

In the final month of spring, summer residents will be more actively involved in this activity.

Thus, it is time to remember the important rules for planting and growing a popular garden crop.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the things that carrots do not like.

Dense soil

The soil into which carrot seeds are added should be light and loose. Sandy loam and loam are excellent options.

But planting a crop on a site with heavy soil is a wrong decision. In this case, problems with the development of root crops will certainly arise.

Heat

Carrots do not react well to high air temperatures.

A summer resident who does not protect the plant from the heat is unlikely to be able to harvest many orange root vegetables.

Shadow

Planting carrots in a shaded area is clearly not the best solution.

The plant must receive enough sunlight, otherwise the vegetables will not grow large.

Dryness

The popular garden crop does not “react” well to a lack of moisture.

Root crops must be formed in sufficiently moist soil, otherwise the harvest will unpleasantly surprise the gardener with its poverty and low quality.

Fresh manure

This type of "organic" is harmful to carrots.

Firstly, manure changes the shape of root crops for the worse. Secondly, the plant becomes more vulnerable to pests.

Mistakes when planting potatoes were listed earlier.
