In the spring, every summer resident who has a cherry tree growing on his plot should pay special attention to this plant.
If several important steps are not taken, the future harvest is unlikely to be rich.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminded us of four important procedures.
So, what should a cherry grower do in the spring?
It is necessary to remove excess shoots, otherwise many berries will not form.
All branches that show signs of damage or disease must be removed.
It is also worth removing shoots that make the crown too dense.
The procedure must be completed before the buds open.
If there is almost no rain in the spring, then before the beginning of summer the cherry tree needs to be watered twice.
The first time before the buds open. The second time after flowering has finished.
Each plant should receive an average of 40 liters of liquid.
Moisture deficiency is a common cause of problems with fruit formation.
Of course, we must not forget about fertilizing. In spring, the cherry will "react" well to urea (40 grams per bucket of water), as well as to nitrophoska (a couple of tablespoons per bucket of water).
And, of course, it is worth remembering the importance of disease prevention.
In the first half of the second month of spring, it is worth treating the cherry with a solution of copper sulfate.
It is also worth using special preparations against cherry flies and other insects that are dangerous to the tree.
Earlier, summer residents were told when to sow watermelons for seedlings in the spring of 2024 and how to care for them.
