Summer residents' attention is focused on the condition of seedlings. In first place are nightshades - tomatoes, peppers, eggplants. Cucumber seedlings are no less demanding.
Many people prefer to sow seeds directly into the soil, thereby wanting to avoid problems with cucumber seedlings.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told what prevents growing healthy cucumber seedlings.
Cucumber seeds germinate at a temperature of 20-23 degrees Celsius. The acceptable mark is no more than 28-30 degrees.
If it is higher, the seedlings will start to stretch. Also, do not forget about the temperature differences between day and night.
When germinating cucumber seeds for sowing, do not wait for long sprouts. Because of this, future seedlings grow weak. It is also dangerous to overheat the seeds.
Dense planting in a tight container will definitely affect the quality of the seedlings.
Cucumbers need a lot of space for their root system to develop.
Carefully select fertilizers and dosage. Fertilizers should not cause abundant growth of green mass.
Observe the sowing dates and plant cucumbers in the ground or greenhouse in a timely manner. Young or old seedlings may simply not take root after transplantation.
