Cauliflower is a common “resident” in our gardens, but some summer residents often have to face difficulties when growing it.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh came to the rescue and listed the reasons why cauliflower may not form a head.

Poor quality seeds

For planting any cabbage, it is worth using only fresh seeds. It is even better if they are your own.

Damage to the growth point

Various factors, such as spring and summer frosts or pests, can damage the area where the head forms.

Lack of nutrition

Cauliflower is a recognized leader among vegetable crops, if we compare such a parameter as nutritional requirements. Feeding should be abundant, frequent and "tasty".

Lack of moisture

Cauliflower also requires a sufficient amount of moisture, the lack of which leads to problems with the formation of heads.

Diseases

Finally, clubroot, like various rots, can become an obstacle to you and your cauliflower harvest. To prevent them, follow crop rotation rules.

How to solve the problem

If your cauliflower is not forming heads, try feeding it with molybdenum.

Important: the availability of this element in the soil can vary depending on the acidity level, and in order for cabbage to have “access” to it, the soil should be deacidified.
