Many gardeners, faced with the problem of seedlings stretching, begin to correct the situation only when the development of the plants has already been disrupted.
But experienced specialists never wait for seedlings to emerge to ensure their healthy growth.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told how to prevent seedlings from stretching.
They begin to take action already from the stage of sowing seeds.
In order for plants to grow and develop properly, you need to follow a few simple rules:
1. After sowing the seeds, the containers must be covered with film.
2. Until the first shoots appear, maintain a constant temperature in the room within 25-28 C.
3. When the first sprouts (loops) appear, remove the film and reduce the air temperature to 15-17 C. (you can simply place the containers in another, cooler room).
4. For watering, use only water that has been settled (at least 24 hours) at room temperature.
5. Provide the plants with good lighting: place them under a lamp for the first few days for a whole day, then for 16 hours. Place the lamp at a height of at least 15 cm.
6. After two leaves appear, transplant the seedlings into separate containers. At the same time, increase the air temperature again to 20-23 C.
7. As the seedlings grow, arrange the cups so that there is free space around the plants.
Thanks to these techniques, the seedlings develop correctly and the plants ultimately become strong and healthy.
