When planting potatoes, many summer residents put certain agents into the hole.
This is a great strategy: it increases the chances of a good harvest.
However, not all fertilizers are effective in this regard.
There are products that should never be added to the hole: instead of large vegetables, the gardener will get small tubers.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about a common and very offensive mistake of many summer residents.
An approach that is extremely popular is adding wood ash to the hole when planting potatoes.
Do not repeat this mistake under any circumstances! After all, unburned wood residues contain a lot of calcium, which causes the garden crop to “absorb” less potassium than it needs.
The result is a decrease in the starch content of the potatoes grown. In addition, the tubers grow very poorly: the potatoes turn out small.
The situation will be noticeably worse if the soil is alkaline. After all, unburned wood residues should only be added to acidic soil.
Another gross oversight would be adding fresh manure to the hole. This fertilizer will lead to rapid growth of green mass, but not tubers.
Earlier, summer residents were told how to grow strong seedlings without a drop of chemicals.
