The Decembrist blooms for the New Year, and during the main winter holidays it is considered no less a decoration for the home than the New Year tree.

If the plant starts to shed its buds, it does not mean that the flowering period has passed. It is probably about some omissions.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, explained why the Decembrist drops flowers.

Soil moisture

First of all, check the soil moisture and start following a watering schedule.

Even in the flowering phase, this plant does not require much water and will be happy with a regimen of up to once every two weeks.

Nutrients

In essence, it was necessary to think about feeding in advance, that is, in the warm season, when the flower is accumulating strength for flowering.

But it is not recommended to fertilize the Decembrist in autumn and winter.

Trimming

One of the mandatory procedures for plant care is periodic pruning.

Usually it is carried out once a year and at the beginning of summer. It is necessary to deal with diseased shoots at this time.

Pruning helps maintain the health of the plant and prevent buds from falling out.

Flowerpot and soil

The plant is replanted no more than once every four years.

The procedure is planned for the end of flowering - approximately February.

It is important to choose a shallow and wide flowerpot. It must be filled one third with drainage material.

Earlier we talked about why tulips don’t grow .
