Soil acidity changes as a result of irrigation – in other words, this indicator depends on the composition of the water.

If the liquid is soft, the acidity increases, and if it is hard, it decreases.

The acidity level is also affected by the crops grown and the fertilizers applied.

Let's pay attention to the advice of the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

Why is it important to lime the soil?

What substances can be used for liming?

  1. Slaked lime. Add 200 to 500 grams per 1 square meter depending on the acidity level.
  2. Wood ash. 200 to 400 grams per 1 meter is sufficient, depending on the degree of acidity.
  3. Dolomite flour. 300-500 grams per 1 square meter.
  4. Chalk. From 100 to 700 grams per meter depending on acidity.

Note that there is a group of plants that grow poorly on recently limed soil. Therefore, it is better to change the acidity a year before planting.
